News as of Today...

A few important updates regarding the upcoming Region 2 Great Lakes Gathering:

1.  Due to massive construction in the area, The Schmith Family Garden has been removed from the Open Garden Listing.   They send their apologies for any inconvenience this may cause and still look forward to seeing you at the meeting!

2.  There are only about 100 spots left for you to be a part of the big event!  Get your registration in now.  Do not wait any longer!

3.  The steering committee had its full walkthrough at the hotel last week and the excitement is building!  The remodeled lobby is complete, and it is stunning and modern.  You will enjoy your stay!

4.  Hospitality Suite arrangements are being made by Diane Pruden.  Each night we will open the doors for the "after-hours" fun on the top floor of the hotel.  Everyone with a meeting nametag is welcome to join the party in Room 1412.  Do plan on bringing a snack or potluck item to contribute.  You may also bring bottles of wine for the suites.

5.  Dan Bachman and his team of wonderful garden judges instructors will lead the way on our Garden Judges Training Bus!  If you would like to take this training from the region's best instructor on this topic, please sign up quick and let the registrar know you wish to take Garden Judges I training.

6.  Bob Scott (our Topguns friend from Region 11) has donated plants to be used on our bus trip!  Fun ways to use these plants are in the works!

Please join us for the party of the year!  It all starts in about 70 days...get your registration in now!

We are almost at 100 registrants for the July 15-17 event in Troy, Michigan and we can only seat 250 on our buses and at our banquets.  Use the black button on the left side of this page to download the registration form and the schedule of events.  (The download is a two-page document.)  The easiest way to pay your registration is to use PayPal - the link is on the left side of this page, too!

Don't forget to make plans to come early on Friday, July 15 for:
  • 10+ open gardens
  • Off-Scape Daylily Show (all guests and attendees of the meeting encouraged to bring blooms from their home gardens!)
  • Massive Plant Sale and Garden Boutique - major purchases from several growers and hybridizers have been made to provide a FANTASTIC shopping opportunity for our guests!
  • AHS Judges Clinics
  • Two amazing nurseries located within miles of the hotel!

2011 is finally here!

Welcome to the new year, fellow daylily fans!  On behalf of the Southern Michigan Daylily Society, here is an invitation to you to join us July 15-17, 2011 for the Region 2 Summer Meeting and Tours!  Some of you may have been our guests in 2002 when we hosted the AHS National Convention.  We haven't forgotten how to throw a daylily party.  Join us again in Troy, Michigan for a daylily event to be remembered!

We are proud to launch this website as your #1 source for all things related to the 2011 Meeting and Tours.  You'll find the registration forms, open gardens lists, schedules and a whole lot of information published to maximize your experience in Michigan.

Don't forget that Detroit is located near two international border crossings.  Hopefully our international members will consider attending this meeting.  We have Canadian members in our local club, and look forward to meeting more and making this meeting "international"!

On the left of this page, you will see a list of links.  Please take a moment to visit each of the pages and soak up the information.  We hope it entices you to use the online payment through Paypal and make your reservation!

But, you'd better hurry, we are also offering a very limited John Kulpa introduction to the first 50 registrants, so get yours in now!

The "Registration" link on the left side of this page has detailed information on where to mail your form and where to get your questions answered.

We look forward to meeting you!
